Belt Rip Detectors
Riptec Belt tears can occur through sharp and abrasive materials being
jammed on the conveyor, tools and other equipment being left there or badly
worn carry and return rollers.
Unless detected quickly longitudinal belt rips can be very extensive and
expensive. Add to this the cost of lost production and the Riptec conveyor
belt longitudinal tear detector makes very good financial sense.
It's Australian made from passivated mild steel as standard (stainless
steel option) for the toughest operating conditions.
-
Riptec belt tear detectors are mounted just outside loading and
transfer points on the supporting structure each side of the conveyor
belt. They can be fitted to new or existing conveyor systems.
-
The units are interconnected by flexible stainless steel cables which
pass under the belt. The cables are each anchored at one end, with a
plug and socket at the other.
-
In the event of a tear, the spilled material strikes the wires causing
withdrawal of one or both plugs.
- Removal of a plug automatically stops the conveyor and initiates a strobe light indicator to give immediate visual indication of the belt tear location.
